Fun Lies Behind Closed Doors

Do Knot Disturb, movie review

Raj (Govinda) lives on his wife Kiran’s (Sushmita Sen) money and moves to her beats. She provides everything from his meals to his clothes. Suffocated and looking for a way out he is having an affair. Do Knot Disturb movie review…

Kiran is sophisticated and sexy. She is generous and a loving wife. She is more successful than her husband, she owns the company, the house and controls the purse strings… and she also suspects that her husband is upto something…

There is a mistress Dolly (Lara Dutta) who is hot enough to burn. But she is also ditzy and naive. She believes that her lover will leave his wife to marry her…

Do Knot Disturb is about an awkward situation where Govinda has been caught in a frame with his girlfriend Dolly. This situation triggers of a series of events. Incidentally Govardhan too is captured in the picture, fortunately for Raj. This pic lands on Kiran’s (his wife) table. The doubting Kiran wants to get to the bottom of her husband’s affair. The puzzled wife hires a detective to follow her husband. Here the husband who wants to wriggle out of the situation, goes and tracks down Govardhan (Riteish) and pays him to pretend to be Dolly’s (his mistress) boyfriend.

Here on, we have one bizarre situation to another in Do Knot Disturb, typically David Dhawan style. Unlike his previous comedies, David Dhawan comes out with almost no script and creates silly situations expecting Govinda and Ritiesh to enact with conviction and have the audience in splits. .

John Mathew (Ranveer Shouri) is a private detective and a childhood friend of the sexy, rich wife. And he has always been in love with her. When Kiran comes to him with her suspicions about a cheating husband… the detective is hell bent on getting proof of the infidelity so that he can marry his childhood sweetheart himself.

Gavardhan (Ritesh Deshmukh) is the pretended boyfriend who is caught in the middle, who is in desperate need of money for the treatment of his very sick mother. Raj promises to pay him a large sum of money if he pretends to be Dolly’s (the mistresses) boyfriend… so that the suspicious wife is thrown off the scent…
Diesel Bhai (Sohail Khan) is the actual ex-boyfriend of the mistress whom she dumped to be with a married man. He is genuinely in love with her, although he does have an anger management problem.

Govinda, Lara Dutta & Sushmita Sen overact. Ritesh Deshmukh is fine, and again Sohail Khan is unimpressive. Instead the other characters – Manoj Phawa & Rajpal Yadav are fantastic; who steal the show. Ranvir Shorey, Himani Shivpuri, Satish Kaushik, Rituparna & Ali Asgar are average.

There are some nice numbers like Do Knot Disturb by Anushka Manchandani and the Mere Naal by K.K and Shreya Ghosal. Other songs like Beautiful Women rendered by Neeraj Shridhar and Soumya Raoh and Don’t Ever Leave Me by Shaan and Shreya Ghosal are average.

Unfortunately, this time Dhawanji is failed in spite of such a talented line-up of stars who are disappointingly made to jump around and deliver in meaningless situations taken up in this so called comedy.

Do Knot Disturb lacks the typical David-Govinda punch. Apart from some particular scenes which are hilarious, on the whole the film fails to provide entertainment. Well, Do Knot Disturb them.
